The University of Vavuniya is now calling for applications for research grants for the year 2026 to promote high-quality research among its staff. The purpose of these research grants is to facilitate innovative and collaborative research. They also aim to ensure that research outcomes benefit national development.

  1. Eligibility: Permanent academic staff members qualify if they are eligible for research allowance under Establishment Circular No. 5/2014 (i) and 5/2014 (ii), dated 28.05.2014 and 30.05.2014 respectively.
  2. Amount of Fund: There is no fixed limit, but the university applies strict evaluation of cost versus outcome value.
  3. Period of Award: The award period is 12 months, with a possible extension of 6 months.
  4. Application Process: Applicants can find duly filled application forms on the URC website. They should submit these forms to the Head of the Department, who will forward them to the URC before the deadline.
  5. Acceptance: The URC grants acceptance after completing an external review process based on the research’s impact and the proposal’s quality.
  6. Monitoring Progress: Applicants must submit quarterly progress reports during the research period. They must submit the final report at the end of 18 months.
