About the Centre

Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) of the University of Vavuniya was established on 01.10.2021 in compliance with the Commission Circular No.09/2019. CQA’s academic, administrative and financial controls are managed through a standing committee of the Senate of the University of Vavuniya.

The CQA is headed by a Director, who is guided by the standing committee of the Senate. The Senate Standing Committee on Quality Assurance is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, as per the guidelines issued by the UGC in this regard. The Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, as he the Secretary to the Committee. The Faculty level Quality Assurance activities are managed by the Faculty Quality Assurance Cells as per the Quality Assurance By-Laws.

Vision

To achieve the quality excellence in undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes of the University.

Mission

Enhance the holistic quality assurance system in all the components of the higher education of the University and sustain the process of continuous improvements for all teaching, learning, research, student support, and community outreach.

Goal

The goal of the CQA shall be to create a culture that seeks to continually improve the quality of all academic and administrative activities efficiently and effectively in the University.

Objective

  • Promote quality enhancement across the University.
  • Guide and support self-evaluation for programme and institutional reviews.
  • Facilitate implementation and monitoring of review recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other HEIS to share best practices.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance Council and UGC for internal/external reviews.
  • Institutionalise quality assurance through national and international standards.
  • Align university procedures with UGC and national guidelines.
  • Strengthen the University’s public image through consistent quality practices.
