The workshop titled “Yoga Practices in Our Life was successfully conducted on 13th May 2026 at the SH 4 Lecture Hall, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Vavuniya. The programme was organized with the aim of promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being among university staff members and students by creating awareness of the benefits of yoga and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. B. Suthaharan (Sri Lanka), Mrs. S. Balakumar, Mrs. M. N. Thiruppathiraja, Ms. M. Parvathi, and Ms. B. Asha from Shri Paranjothi Yoga College and Universal Peace Foundation, representing India and the USA. The resource persons shared their expertise on the significance of yoga in everyday life, highlighting its role in maintaining physical fitness, mental peace, emotional stability, and overall wellness. They also provided practical guidance on breathing exercises, meditation techniques, stress management strategies, and healthy lifestyle habits.

During the workshop, participants actively engaged in practical yoga sessions and interactive discussions. The hands-on activities enabled them to experience various yoga techniques designed to improve flexibility, concentration, relaxation, and stress reduction. The resource persons emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines as an effective way to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The programme successfully created awareness among participants regarding the benefits of regular yoga practice in enhancing physical health, reducing stress, improving mental focus, and maintaining emotional well-being. It also encouraged participants to adopt positive lifestyle changes and establish a better work-life balance. The interactive nature of the workshop allowed participants to clarify their concerns and gain a deeper understanding of yoga practices and their applications in daily life.

Feedback received from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants expressed their appreciation for the practical and informative nature of the workshop and indicated their willingness to continue practicing yoga regularly. Several participants also recommended organizing similar wellness programmes in the future to further support the well-being of the university community.

Overall, the workshop was highly successful in achieving its objectives and contributed significantly to promoting holistic well-being among staff and students. The programme fostered a healthy learning and working environment within the University of Vavuniya and reinforced the importance of yoga as a valuable tool for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health.
