The Learn to Say No workshop at the University of Vavuniya took place on March 14, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, in the SH4 Lecture Hall, Faculty of Business Studies. The Career Guidance Unit organised this special workshop in partnership with the Education Development Consortium – Sri Lanka. Dr. Saranya Jeikumar, an Educational Psychologist from Tamil Nadu, served as the resource person for the session.

Why the Learn to Say No workshop matters

Setting personal boundaries is an essential life skill for university students. Consequently, the ability to say no helps students manage academic pressure, protect their mental wellbeing, and build healthier relationships. The Career Guidance Unit identified this as a priority area for student development. As a result, it partnered with the Education Development Consortium to deliver a structured, expert-led session on assertiveness. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to build confidence among students so that they could make decisions aligned with their personal values and goals.
