University Name Board Openings at the University of Vavuniya
The University Name Board Openings took place on 9 February 2022 at the University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, two days before the official inauguration ceremony. The gallery below shows photos from the day, including the welcome procession, the arrival of the guests and the unveiling of the new name boards at the university entrance.
Welcome Procession
The programme began with a traditional welcome. Drummers led the procession along the road towards the entrance, while university officials, staff and guests walked behind them. Officials wore ceremonial sashes, and most attendees wore face masks in line with COVID-19 health guidelines.
Unveiling of the Name Boards
The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the name boards. Each board stood covered with a maroon curtain until the guests pulled it away and revealed the university’s name and emblem. Flags and banners decorated the site, and guests, officials and staff gathered around to watch and applaud. [Add the names of the guests who opened each board and the location of each one.]
Why the Name Boards Matter
The name boards give the University of Vavuniya a clear public identity in Pampaimadu, Vavuniya. They welcome students, staff and visitors to the campus and mark the university’s growth as a newly established institution.
