Psychological and Emotional Support

Provides confidential counselling to students experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, grief, loneliness, or other psychological concerns, helping them develop healthy coping strategies.

Academic Support and Guidance

Assists students in managing academic-related challenges such as examination stress, poor academic performance, time management, study skills, motivation, and adjustment to university life.

Personal and Social Counselling

Supports students in resolving personal, family, interpersonal, cultural, and social issues that may affect their well-being or academic progress.

Financial and Welfare Guidance

Provides guidance to students facing financial hardship and directs them to available scholarships, bursaries, emergency assistance, or other welfare support services within the University.

Crisis Intervention and Emergency Support

Offers immediate assistance to students experiencing personal crises or emergencies and coordinates referrals to relevant professional services when required.

Referral to Professional Services

Where specialized care is needed, students are referred to appropriate professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, medical officers, social workers, or external support agencies while maintaining confidentiality.

Support for First-Year Students

Assists newly enrolled students in adjusting to university life by helping them cope with homesickness, transition challenges, social integration, and academic expectations.

Student Conflict Resolution

Provides guidance and mediation to help resolve interpersonal conflicts among students and promotes peaceful and respectful relationships within the University community.

Ragging Prevention and Student Safety

Supports University initiatives to prevent ragging, harassment, discrimination, and violence by providing counselling, early intervention, and assistance to affected students.

Career and Personal Development

Encourages students to develop self-awareness, communication skills, confidence, resilience, leadership qualities, and informed decision-making for both academic and future career success.

Awareness and Preventive Programmes

Organizes workshops, seminars, awareness campaigns, and outreach programmes on mental health, stress management, life skills, substance abuse prevention, gender sensitivity, and student well-being.

Consultation for University Staff

Provides consultation and guidance to academic staff, mentors, wardens, and other student support personnel regarding appropriate approaches to assisting students experiencing difficulties.

Confidentiality

The Student Counselling Service is founded on the principles of trust, respect, and confidentiality. Information shared during counselling sessions will remain confidential and will not be disclosed without the student’s consent, except where required by law or when there is a serious risk of harm to the student or others.
