PROFESSOR ALAGAIAH THURAIRAJAH GOLD MEDAL
The University of Jaffna invites applications for the Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal from eligible students who graduated in the academic years 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024, obtaining First Class or Second Class (Upper Division). These students will receive their Bachelor Degree at the forthcoming 41st Annual Convocation.
Students who completed their degree programmes in these academic years from the Faculty of Applied Science, Faculty of Business Studies, and Faculty of Technological Studies of the former Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna can also apply for this award.
Applicants can obtain application forms from one of the following:
- Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs and Publication Branch, University of Jaffna
- Deputy Registrar, Examinations and Student Services Branch, University of Vavuniya, Vavuniya

Gold Medal:
- One Gold Medal for all-round best performance at University level
- Gold Medal for all-round best performance at each Faculty level
Submission of Application Forms
Applicants should perfect their applications with supporting documents and post them under registered cover to reach the Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs and Publication Branch, University of Jaffna, on or before 23rd September 2026. They should mark “Application for Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal” on the left-hand corner of the envelope.
Closing Date: 23rd September 2026 (Wednesday)
Note:
- Students who already submitted applications in the 40th General Convocation held on 19th, 20th, 21st & 22nd February 2026 do not need to apply again.
- The University will not consider late, illegible, or incomplete applications.
