Oath Taking 2022 Vavuniya: New Year Ceremony at the University
The Oath Taking 2022 Vavuniya ceremony took place at the University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, on 4 January 2022. Staff and students gathered on the university grounds to begin the new year with a pledge to serve the institution and the nation. The gallery below shares photos from the ceremony.
Flag Hoisting
The programme began with the raising of the national flag and the university flag. Participants stood in neat lines along the road, facing the flagpoles, and watched as the flags rose against the sky. Most attendees wore face masks and kept their places in line with COVID-19 health guidelines.
Taking the Oath
After the flag hoisting, staff and students took the oath together. Academic and non-academic staff stood in rows, and students in uniform stood in formation beside them. [Add who led the oath, what the pledge covered and the names of any chief guests.]
Why the Oath Taking Ceremony Matters
A shared oath reminds everyone at the university of their duties to their work, their colleagues and the community. Starting the year together builds unity and a sense of purpose, which matters especially for a newly established university like the University of Vavuniya.
