The Staff Development Centre of the University of Vavuniya organized an Induction Programme for newly recruited permanent non-academic staff on 6th April 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The programme was designed for the positions of Management Assistant, Marshal, and Security Inspector.

The programme began with registration, coordinated by Mr. M. Arunshankar, Deputy Registrar of the Establishments Branch, followed by a session by Prof. (Eng.) A. Atputharajah, Vice-Chancellor, on the contributions of non-academic staff toward achieving the goals of the University. Further  he explained the Basic Skills required to become a good Management Assistant.

Subsequently, appointment letters were issued to the newly recruited staff by the Vice-Chancellor, the Deans of Faculties, and the Registrar of the University.

Prof. Y. Nanthagopan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, conducted a session on the University and its working environment. This was followed by Mr. V. Senthooran, Dean of the Faculty of Technological Studies, who highlighted the importance of Information Technology for career development.

Mr. R. Jeyakumar, Acting Registrar, presented the job descriptions of the staff, and Mr. L. Ram Ramanan, Bursar, outlined the financial regulations of the University system.

The afternoon session commenced with Prof. T. Mangaleswaran, Professor of Human Resource Management, who discussed Human Resource Management in the University system. This was followed by Prof. G. Jeyaseelan, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching, who emphasized the importance of language development in the University working environment.

Next, Ms. B. Anusha, Senior Staff Management Assistant, addressed career development opportunities for Management Assistants. Mr. S. Kuhanesan, Director of Student Support and Welfare Services, spoke on coordination between staff and student support services, while Dr. S. Shanmugathasan, Acting Librarian, introduced the library facilities and services available to the University community.

Dr. M. Kayanan, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, conducted a session on the importance of statistical data in the day-to-day working environment.

To conclude the programme, Mr. M. Arunshankar, Deputy Registrar of the Establishments Branch, explained human resource administration and staff regulations within the University system.
