The Progress Review Meeting of the VALID Centre, University of Vavuniya, chaired by the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology, was held on 28th August 2026. The meeting focused on the Centre’s progress, ongoing activities, commercial operations, and future plans, while also highlighting the launch of the VALID Centre webpage and the commencement of commercial food testing services, including demonstrations of food testing, online payment facilities, and certificate issuance. The programme also included a visit to the Panmaimadu Premises of the University of Vavuniya.
The meeting was attended by the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Chrishantha Abeysena, Senior Professor A. Atputharajah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, Vidatha Officers from Vavuniya, Dr. (Ms.) J. Nimalan, Director of the VALID Centre, along with academic and non-academic staff members of the University of Vavuniya.
The meeting marked an important milestone in advancing food testing, innovation, research, and commercial services through the VALID Centre.
