The VALID Centre Vavuniya opening ceremony takes place on Friday 23 January 2026 from 9.00 a.m. onwards. The Ministry of Science and Technology collaborates with the University of Vavuniya for this event. Furthermore, the ceremony takes place at the Park Road premises of the University of Vavuniya. Hon. Minister Sunil Handunneththi, Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, graces the event as Chief Guest. Hon. Minister Prof. Chrishantha Abeysena, Ministry of Science and Technology, attends as Guest of Honour.
Following the inauguration, the university formally hands over the VALID Centre Vavuniya to the University of Vavuniya community. The Centre provides services aimed at promoting and supporting the entrepreneurship sector. Additionally, the University of Vavuniya establishes this Centre in collaboration with the Vidatha Resource Centre at the Park Road premises.
The VALID Centre stands for the Centre for Verification of Accuracy and Learning for Innovation and Development. Furthermore, the Centre supports entrepreneurs, MSMEs, researchers, and innovators. It provides essential testing services, technical knowledge, training, and quality assurance support. Moreover, the Centre plays a vital role in improving product quality and innovation capacity. It also strengthens market readiness especially in the Northern region of Sri Lanka.
