The University of Vavuniya has issued Qualification Guidelines for two vacant posts. The Registrar released this notice on 1 February 2026. The guidelines set out the qualifications, age limits and terms for each post.
Post 1: Public Health Inspector, Grade III
Applicants for this post must meet the requirements of UGC Commission Circular No. 790. Specifically, applicants must have passed the Public Health Inspectors Examination conducted by the Department of Health. In addition, applicants must not be more than 45 years of age.
Post 2: Technical Officer, Grade II, Segment ‘B’
Applicants for this post must meet the requirements of UGC Commission Circular No. 622. First, applicants must have passes in 6 subjects at the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination, with 5 credits obtained in not more than 2 sittings. These credit passes must include Science and Mathematics. Second, applicants must have three (3) Advanced Level passes in a Science subject. Applicants must not be more than 40 years of age.
The university will appoint successful candidates under “Segment B” of the Technical Officers’ service as “Trainee Technical Officer” for a period of three (3) years. At the end of this training, the university will confirm officers who gain competence in laboratory techniques, indenting, and maintenance of inventories. Officers must also show the ability to type in English. The university will then appoint them to permanent posts of “Technical Officer Grade II – Segment B”.

If any inconsistency arises between the clauses of this document and the relevant UGC Circulars or regulations, the provisions of the UGC Circulars or regulations shall prevail.
