The Inauguration Ceremony of the Diploma in Early Childhood Education – Batch II was held on
07th September 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science,
Pambaimadu, University of Vavuniya. The event marked a significant milestone in the university’s
ongoing commitment to the advancement of early childhood education. The ceremony was graced
by several distinguished guests, including Senior Prof. A. Atputharajah, Vice Chancellor of the
University of Vavuniya; Mr. S. A. Jude Leon, Director of the Centre for Distance and Continuing
Education (CDCE); Eng. M. Sooriasegaram, President of the Education Development Consortium;
Mr. Muralitharan, Assistant Director of Education (Pre-School), Vavuniya North; Dr. S.
Shanmugathasan, Academic Coordinator, and Ms. Y. Vithushana, Assistant Registrar of CDCE.
Their esteemed presence added great value to the occasion, which served as an inspiring beginning
for the new batch of students as they embark on their academic journey in the field of early
childhood education. The programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and
practical experience necessary to become competent and compassionate early childhood educators.
