The University of Vavuniya, through its Faculty of Applied Science in collaboration with the Faculty of Technological Studies, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) on 2nd October 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Monarch Imperial Hotel, Sri Jayawardenapura, Colombo.

This landmark partnership is aimed at strengthening research and development collaboration between academia and industry, with a special focus on addressing contemporary challenges in the electricity sector through digitalization and data-driven solutions. The collaboration is expected to advance innovation, support sustainable practices, and contribute significantly to national development.

The partnership is expected to pave the way for smarter energy management, impactful innovations, and a stronger bridge between academia and industry for the betterment of the nation.
