Student Counselling

About Us

The Student Counselling Service of the University of Vavuniya is committed to promoting the mental, emotional, academic, and personal well-being of all students by providing a safe, supportive, and confidential environment. The service aims to empower students to overcome personal challenges, enhance their academic performance, and achieve their full potential throughout their university journey.

The University recognizes that students may encounter various academic, psychological, social, financial, and personal challenges during their studies. Our trained Student Counsellors, who are academic staff members appointed by the University, provide professional guidance, support, and appropriate referrals to help students cope effectively with these challenges.

The Student Counselling Service is coordinated by the Senior Student Counsellor and operates across all three faculties. Male and female counselors are available during working days, ensuring that students have access to a counsellor with whom they feel comfortable. All counselling sessions are conducted with the utmost respect for privacy, and information shared by students is treated with strict confidentiality, except where disclosure is required to protect the student’s or another person’s safety.

Students may contact any Student Counsellor to seek advice, discuss concerns, or arrange an appointment. Telephone or email communication may be used to schedule appointments or discuss urgent situations before a face-to-face meeting.
