Panel discussions and key highlights

The full-day event featured two in-depth panel discussions that sparked meaningful dialogue among participants. The first, titled “Role of Business Incubators and Entrepreneurs in Regional and National Development,” explored how institutional support systems can accelerate entrepreneurial growth across Sri Lanka. The second panel, “Role of Modern Technologies and Professional Education in the Development of Entrepreneurship,” examined the intersection of digital innovation and higher education in shaping the next generation of business leaders.

Beyond the discussions, participants had the opportunity to connect with peers, exchange experiences, and gain insights from entrepreneurs who have built successful ventures in diverse sectors. The event also featured a dedicated session to honour leading entrepreneurs for their outstanding contributions to the regional economy and entrepreneurial culture.

Mini-industrial expo – 45+ entrepreneurs showcased

One of the most vibrant aspects of the day was the mini-industrial expo, which featured the products and services of more than 45 entrepreneurs from across the region. The expo provided a dynamic platform for local businesses to gain visibility, connect with potential partners and customers, and demonstrate the diversity and quality of entrepreneurship thriving in Vavuniya and the wider Northern Province. From agri-based ventures to technology-driven startups, the expo reflected the breadth of innovation taking root in the region.

Outcomes and impact

With 150 entrepreneurs and 25 distinguished guests in attendance, the event successfully achieved its core objectives: fostering meaningful connections among entrepreneurs, promoting their products and services to a wider audience, and recognising their unwavering dedication to the entrepreneurial spirit. The event served as a powerful reminder of how universities can act as catalysts for economic development by creating spaces where business leaders, students, and policymakers converge.
