The Centre for Quality Assurance, University of Vavuniya, organised a workshop on Quality Parameters for Higher Education on 4th May 2023. Deans of the Faculties, Heads of Departments, and academic staff all participated in this workshop. Furthermore, the university invited Prof. N. Panchanatham as the resource person. He is a Former Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Education University and Former Registrar of Annamalai University.

Prof. N. Panchanatham brought extensive experience in higher education management and quality assurance to the Quality Parameters for Higher Education workshop. His background in both academic leadership and university administration gave participants valuable insights into quality standards and best practices. Moreover, his perspective from leading Indian universities enriched the discussion and offered participants a broader regional view of quality in higher education.

Understanding quality parameters for higher education is essential for any university striving for excellence. These parameters cover a wide range of areas, including curriculum design, teaching and learning practices, research output, student support services, and institutional governance. In addition, they help universities benchmark their performance against national and international standards. As a result, institutions that actively monitor and improve these parameters consistently deliver better outcomes for their students and stakeholders.

The workshop gave the Deans, Heads of Departments, and academic staff of the University of Vavuniya a practical framework for assessing and improving quality across their respective faculties and departments. Participants engaged actively in discussions and explored how quality parameters for higher education apply to their specific contexts. Furthermore, they identified areas for improvement and discussed strategies for implementing quality-driven changes in their programmes and services.
