The VAROD disability rehabilitation discussion took place on 11 February 2026. The Support Centre for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) organized this session. Furthermore, the event ran from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the IT Centre Boardroom.

Session Overview

The discussion covered VAROD disability rehabilitation work in two segments. First, Fr. Everest C.M.F., Director of VAROD, led the first 45 minutes. He presented the organization’s mission and key activities. He also covered community engagements. Next, the final 15 minutes offered an open discussion. Participants shared views, raised questions, and exchanged ideas.

Participants

The Vice Chancellor attended the discussion. In addition, Deans of the Faculties also participated. Senior Treasurers of the Students’ Clubs joined the session. Staff members from the Faculty of Applied Sciences were present. Moreover, members of the SCPD Management Committee attended. Students with disabilities and volunteer student club members also took part.

Objectives

The session aimed to gain insights into VAROD disability rehabilitation work. Additionally, participants explored potential collaboration opportunities. The discussion focused on community enrichment initiatives. Furthermore, the team identified ways to align the University of Vavuniya’s future initiatives with VAROD. As a result, the goal is to build a meaningful and sustainable partnership. Finally, the SCPD will coordinate this collaborative effort going forward.
