The Landscape Division of the University of Vavuniya successfully organized a Tree Plantation and Donation Program on Friday, 20th March 2026 at the Garden Village Hostel premises (New Hostel Area – Military Battalion Training Camp), in commemoration of International Forest Day. The event commenced at 8:30 a.m. with the active participation of university staff, students, and the staff of the Range Forest Office, Vavuniya. This program was conducted in collaboration with the Range Forest Office, Vavuniya, which generously donated saplings for the initiative. As part of this environmental conservation effort, valuable tree species such as Pongamia pinnata (Pongam Oil Tree / Magul Karanda) and Phyllanthus emblica (Indian Gooseberry / Nelli) were planted within the university premises. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness, enhance green cover, and encourage sustainable practices among the university community.
