The Physical Education Unit of the University of Vavuniya successfully organized a Staff Cricket Match, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. The event was held on April 25, 2025, at the university playground at 4:00 PM, and it also served as the selection process for the University of Vavuniya Staff Cricket Team.
This match was played in memory of Prof. A. Pushpanathan, Senior Lecturer Mr. N. Thevaraja (Technical Officer), and Mr. S. Gnaneswaran (Supervisor), as a tribute to their invaluable contributions to the university. The final match took place on April 29, 2025, showcasing competitive yet respectful gameplay.
In the final match, the late Mr. N. Thevaraja’s team emerged as champions, Mr. S. Gnaneswaran’s team secured second place, and Prof. A. Pushpanathan’s team claimed third place. The tournament was not only a celebration of cricket but also a heartfelt honor to the legacy of remarkable individuals who played a significant role in the university’s journey.
