
The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Vavuniya successfully conducted a virtual initiative titled the Opportunities to Study Abroad workshop on 10th September 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. SAGO Overseas Education, Jaffna, facilitated the session.
The workshop attracted active participation from undergraduates across all faculties who are interested in pursuing international degrees.
Key Areas Covered During the Session
The Opportunities to Study Abroad workshop provided comprehensive guidance on higher education opportunities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and Europe. It covered several important topics, including:
- Admission Requirements: Standardized tests, GPA thresholds, and language proficiency scores.
- Scholarship Options: Exploring merit-based and need-based international funding.
- Visa Procedures: Navigating immigration documentation and country-specific laws.
- Financial Planning: Managing tuition fees, accommodation, and living costs.
In addition, facilitators explained career prospects after graduation and how students can align academic goals with global opportunities.
