The Sri Lanka University Games Track and Field Championship 2025 was held on 23rd and 24th August at the Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Homagama.
The University of Vavuniya took part in the championship with a team of 15 athletes. This included 9 male athletes and 6 female athletes. The team represented the university in various track and field events.
Individual Performances
Several athletes delivered notable performances during the competition. In particular, N. Janarthanan achieved 3rd place in the discus throw event.
In addition, K. Nithursha secured 4th place in the 100m hurdles. However, other athletes were unable to finish within the top eight positions in their respective events.
Team Performance
In the overall team standings, the University of Vavuniya performed as follows:
- The men’s team ranked 11th
- The women’s team ranked 9th
As a result, the university secured 11th place overall among 16 participating universities.
Overall, the championship provided valuable competitive exposure for the athletes. Moreover, it helped improve performance levels and experience for future sporting events.
