The Staff Development Centre, University of Vavuniya, organised a training programme on Self-Evaluation Report Writing for Programme Review on 15 November 2023. The programme targeted academic staff of the Faculty of Technological Studies. Moreover, the Staff Development Centre conducted it in collaboration with the Centre for Quality Assurance. Around 10 staff members took part in this training.

Four distinguished resource persons led the Self-Evaluation Report Writing training. Dr. P. Selvarajan, Prof. A. Nanthakumaran, Prof. V. Sivalogathasan, and Prof. A. Pushpanathan all participated as resource persons. Their expertise and experience greatly enriched the sessions and supported the participants throughout the day.

The training focused on the Undergraduate Programme Review Manual published by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Based on this manual, the resource persons discussed eight criteria of the Programme Review with the staff. Each criterion helped participants understand the key areas they must address when preparing a Self-Evaluation Report. Furthermore, the discussions gave staff practical guidance on how to apply these criteria effectively in their own faculties.

Self-Evaluation Report Writing plays a vital role in maintaining academic quality and standards. It helps universities demonstrate their commitment to quality assurance in teaching, learning, and administration. As a result, well-prepared self-evaluation reports contribute directly to successful programme reviews and accreditation outcomes. Therefore, the Staff Development Centre regularly organises such training to build the capacity of academic staff across all faculties.
