The University of Vavuniya recently partnered with the Chuvash I. Yakovlev State Pedagogical University of Russia. Together, they delivered a structured Russian Language Programme for local undergraduates. This collaboration marks a significant step in international academic engagement.
About the Programme
The Chuvash I. Yakovlev State Pedagogical University designed a basic Russian language course especially for University of Vavuniya students. The programme ran over three intensive days. It introduced students to foundational Russian language skills, including vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic communication.
A total of 59 students successfully completed the course. Each participant received a certificate recognizing their achievement.
Certificate Awarding Ceremony
The certificate awarding ceremony took place on 14th August 2025. Officials held the event at the IT Centre Board Room, University of Vavuniya. Faculty members, university officials, and representatives from Chuvash University attended the ceremony.
The event celebrated the dedication of the 59 students who completed the Russian Language Programme. It also highlighted the growing academic ties between Sri Lanka and Russia.
