Russian Language Course Inauguration at the University of Vavuniya

The Cultural Centre of the University of Vavuniya launched a new Russian language course on September 21, 2023. This event marked a key milestone in international academic cooperation. Delegates from Chuvash State Pedagogical University, Russia, joined the occasion to celebrate this Russian language course inauguration.

Several distinguished guests attended the ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Prof. T. Mangaleswaran led the proceedings. Additionally, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Prof. Elena Khrisanova and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Ms. Svetlana Ilina represented Chuvash State Pedagogical University. Furthermore, Cultural Centre Director Mr. S. S. Suthaharan, Deans of Faculties, the Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and Heads of Departments all took part. Staff and students of the university also joined the gathering.

This Russian language course reflects the university’s strong commitment to multilingual education. Moreover, it opens new opportunities for student exchange and research collaboration between Sri Lanka and Russia. As a result, students now gain direct access to Slavic language learning at the University of Vavuniya.

The course also strengthens ties with Chuvash State Pedagogical University. In addition, it supports cross-cultural dialogue and academic growth for both institutions. Therefore, this inauguration represents more than a new course, it builds a long-term international partnership.
