The Women’s Economic Empowerment Workshop organized by the University Business Linkages of the University of Vavuniya was held on 8th March 2025. The programme took place from 09:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lecture Hall, Park Road Premises, University of Vavuniya.
The workshop titled “Breaking Barriers: The Role of Media in Women’s Economic Empowerment for Journalism Students” focused on the role of media in promoting gender equality. It also highlighted the importance of women’s economic empowerment. The programme was specially designed for journalism students.
Dr. Nimmi Gowrinathan served as the resource person for the session. She is a scholar, journalist, and advocate for women’s political voice. She is also a Visiting Professor at Columbia University, USA.
