The Orientation Programme for the Media Literacy and Journalism Certificate took place on 28th May 2023 at the University of Vavuniya. The Harmony Centre, University of Vavuniya organized the programme.

The event took place at the University premises, Park Road, Vavuniya Town, under the supervision of the Director of the Harmony Centre. This programme marked the official beginning of the Advanced Certificate Course in Media Literacy and Journalism.

Several distinguished guests from the academic and media fields attended the ceremony. Prof. T. Mangaleswaran, Vice Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, joined as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the programme.

In addition, Mr. J. Yograj, Media Consultant from Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), attended as a special guest. Dr. S. Senthan, Co-Director of the Centre for Media and Human Rights in the United Kingdom, also participated. Furthermore, Mr. N. Kabilnath, Senior Media Journalist from the Vavuniya District, joined the event as a special guest.
