About the Centre

Sri Lankan culture is a dynamic, challenging, and independent force based on the freedom of expression. Therefore, everyone is to have the opportunity to participate in cultural life and develop society in creativity, diversity, and artistic quality that are integral parts of arts and culture. Therefore, this will develop and promote the rich diversity and uniqueness of various arts of the Zone and upgrade and enrich the people’s consciousness about their cultural heritage. The main objectives of establishing the Arts and Culture Centre are:

  • To develop the students’ creative potential in culture
  • To arrange cultural programs through international research and conferences,        seminars, workshops, and training programmes
  • To encourage understanding between different communities and cultures.
  • To strengthen personal and collective identity in culture
  • To inspire the development of interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and                        competencies in culture
  • To receive global assistance in developing students’ cultural potential
  • To facilitate the publications through the Cultural Centre
  • To share the advanced knowledge of culture through collaboration with the              Government, Non-Government, and International Organizations
  • To preserve the cultural heritage of multicultural communities
  • To create an archive to preserve the documents of communities and share              them with the next generation.
