The University of Vavuniya held the Colors Night 2024 on 12 December 2025. The event took place at the Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science. It ran from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Students, athletes, and staff gathered in a grand and vibrant atmosphere.
Dr. M. Kayanan attended Colors Night 2024 as the Special Guest. He is the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and former Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board. Furthermore, his presence added great prestige to the occasion and inspired the student athletes greatly.
Several other distinguished guests also joined the Colors Night 2024 ceremony. Mr. Ramramanan, Bursar of the University, attended the event. In addition, Ms. Yasodha Ramramanan, Student Counsellor, was present. Ms. Akkila, Lecturer of the Faculty of Business Studies, Mr. Suman, Marshal, and Mr. Lesly, Karate Coach, were also in attendance. Moreover, the Acting Director of the Physical Education Unit delivered the Welcome Speech to open the programme.
The University of Vavuniya performed well at the Inter-University Games 2024 and secured strong placements across multiple sporting disciplines. As a result, the university awarded Colors and Half-Colors to deserving athletes at Colors Night 2024. This recognised their dedication, talent, and hard work.
During the ceremony, the University Table Tennis Team introduced the Table Tennis Memorial Trophy. They named it in honour of Hiruna Dilshan Jayawardena. This tribute added a deeply meaningful moment to the evening.
Overall, Colors Night 2024 served as an inspiring platform for the entire university community. It recognised student athletes and encouraged future sporting excellence at the University of Vavuniya.
