IThe Certificate in Russian Language Vavuniya awarding ceremony took place on 12th February 2024 at the University of Vavuniya. This landmark event celebrated the achievements of students who successfully completed the Russian Language certificate programme. Furthermore, the ceremony brought together distinguished diplomats, academics, and university leaders. As a result, it became a truly memorable occasion for everyone involved.
Distinguished Chief Guest
The university was honoured to welcome His Excellency Mr. Levan S. Dzhagaryan as Chief Guest. He serves as Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and to the Republic of Maldives. Moreover, his presence reflected the strong diplomatic ties between Russia and Sri Lanka. Consequently, it also underscored the importance of language education in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In addition, three distinguished special guests attended the ceremony. First, His Excellency Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, joined the celebration. Next, Prof. Kozhanov Igor Vladimirovich, Rector of Chuvash I. Yakovlev State Pedagogical University in Russia, participated as a special guest. Furthermore, Madam Maria Popova, Director of the Russian House in Colombo, also attended. Together, these guests gave the event significant international weight and prestige.

The ceremony also brought together the senior leadership of the University of Vavuniya. Respected Vice-Chancellor Prof. T. Mangaleswaran presided over the event. He was joined by Mr. S. S. Suthaharan, Director of the Cultural Centre, and Dr. N. Raveendrakumaran, Director of the International Division. Additionally, Deans of Faculties, the Registrar, the Bursar, and Heads of Departments were all present. As a result, the ceremony reflected the full institutional commitment of the university to international language education.
