University of Vavuniya students achieved outstanding results at the International Karate Cup 2026. The 13th Open I.S.K.D.J. International Karate Cup took place on 21 February 2026. The International Shotokan Karate-Do Japan School organized this prestigious event. Furthermore, the Indoor Stadium in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka hosted the tournament.
About the International Karate Cup 2026
The International Karate Cup 2026 featured participants from several countries. These included India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, Malaysia, Germany, Spain, and Bhutan. Additionally, University of Vavuniya students represented the institution proudly. The team departed at 6:30 AM on the competition day. Subsequently, they returned to the university premises by 8:00 PM. Moreover, the Sri Lanka Karate-Do Federation assigned qualified referees to officiate all bouts.

The students showcased exceptional skills in both Kata (form) and Kumite (sparring) categories, securing the following positions:
