Prof. Suresh Surendran, Visiting Professor in Environmental Risk and Sustainable Development, Faculty of Business Studies, served as the resource person. The workshop aimed at academic, academic support, and administrative staff.

Accreditation Process Workshop – Key Objectives

The primary objective of this Accreditation Process Workshop was to present a professional initiative focused on enhancing the quality and global recognition of university degree programmes. Furthermore, Prof. Suresh Surendran introduced key aspects of accreditation, including institutional and programmatic (module-based) processes. He emphasised its benefits in promoting excellence in education.

He discussed how accreditation aligns with core competencies in:

  • Technical project management
  • Strategic and business management
  • Leadership and institutional development

A significant part of the session was dedicated to explaining, step by step, how the Department of Project Management successfully carried out its own accreditation process. Consequently, this served as a model of best practices for other departments. The detailed explanation encouraged other departments to initiate and pursue accreditation for their respective programmes.

Curriculum Development and Practical Insights

The session also covered the development of innovative and sustainable curricula designed to meet present and future educational needs. In addition, real-world examples and emerging tools gave participants practical insights into applying accreditation standards. These insights help enhance academic quality and institutional competitiveness.

Departmental Contributions

Ms. S. Mathivathany, Head of the Department of Project Management, outlined the step-by-step accreditation journey undertaken by her department. She expressed gratitude to her departmental staff for their dedication and teamwork, which played a vital role in the success of the process.

Prof. Y. Nanthagopan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, also addressed the gathering. He encouraged other departments to engage in the Accreditation Process Workshop initiative and praised the efforts of Prof. Suresh Surendran, Ms. Mathivathany, and their team for their leadership and achievements.
