The University of Vavuniya clinched the champion title at the MindXtra Inter-University Competition 2022. The Leo Club of the University of Moratuwa organized this prestigious innovation challenge on 18th January 2022. Teams from universities across Sri Lanka competed to solve national issues using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as their guide.
The Winning Team
A group of undergraduates from the 2017 Intake of the Faculty of Technological Studies represented the University of Vavuniya. They outperformed all competing universities and brought home two major awards:
- Winner of MindXtra – Overall Champions
- Best IoT Design Award
About the Competition
MindXtra challenged student teams to think creatively. Each team had to apply modern technology to real-world problems in Sri Lanka. Judges evaluated entries on innovation, technical skill, and social impact. The University of Vavuniya team impressed the panel with their IoT-based solution. Their design stood out for both its originality and practical application.
