On June 25, 2025, a Kriya Yoga awareness workshop was held from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Moreover, the event took place at SH4 Soosairathnam Hall, University of Vavuniya.
Distinguished Participants of the Kriya Yoga Workshop
Firstly, the workshop was organized with Yogi Ram Sunthar as the resource person. In addition, his three assistants supported the session. Furthermore, two school students also joined the event. Likewise, the Vice-Chancellor and the Well-being Director attended. Finally, staff and students of the university actively took part.
Welcome Address by the Well-being Director
To begin with, the workshop opened with a welcome address by the Well-being Director. She spoke about the importance of yoga in maintaining mental and physical health. Moreover, she emphasized its value for students and academic professionals. As a result, her speech set a meaningful tone for the session. In addition, she highlighted yoga as a valuable tool for holistic well-being.
Keynote Speech by Yogi Ram Sunthar
Following the welcome, Yogi Ram Sunthar delivered the keynote speech. He discussed the importance of yoga and gave a motivational talk. Notably, he emphasized the five major components of yoga. These include asana (postures), pranayama (breath control), and dhyana (meditation). In addition, he covered relaxation and ethical living. Overall, his message was inspiring. Therefore, he encouraged everyone to include yoga in their daily routine.
Supporting Talk on Yoga Principles
Next, one of the assistants of the resource person delivered a short speech about yoga. Furthermore, he explained its principles and benefits in more detail. As a result, this added depth to the session. Moreover, it reinforced the concepts introduced earlier.
Practical Kriya Yoga Session
After that, a practical yoga session followed. During this session, Yogi Ram Sunthar and his assistants guided the participants. Specifically, they led various yoga exercises and techniques. Indeed, the practical segment was engaging. Consequently, participants gained hands-on experience with different aspects of yoga practice.
Address by the Vice-Chancellor
After the practice, the Vice-Chancellor addressed the gathering. Firstly, he appreciated the initiative. Secondly, he acknowledged the value of yoga in promoting a healthier campus environment. Therefore, he encouraged all students and staff to regularly engage in yoga for their overall well-being.

Finally, the session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Well-being Director. In particular, she expressed her gratitude to the resource person, assistants, participants, and organizers. Overall, the workshop was a great success. As a result, it left a positive impact on all who attended. Ultimately, it promoted awareness and enthusiasm for yoga in the university community.
