The Staff Development Center of the University of Vavuniya organized a staff development session titled “Quality Control: From Compliance to Results Orientation” for the academic, executive, and administrative staff of the university.
The session was held on5th March 2026, from1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at theSmart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science, University of Vavuniya. The session was conducted by Dr. S. Nathikesan, Lead Evaluation Officer at IFAD. During the session, the resource person explained the concept of quality and emphasized that quality is essential for achieving effective results. He highlighted the importance of identifying the chain of inputs and intermediate results required to achieve final outcomes. The session also focused on setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) targets and establishing clear baselines for each indicator.
Dr. Nathikesan discussed key principles of quality control, including adopting a systematic and cascading approach that covers all departments. In addition, the session outlined the main components of a quality control system and emphasized the need to build a results-oriented culture. Participants engaged in discussions on various quality control methods used in their work and benefited from sharing practical experiences.Overall, the session was informative and useful, helping participants improve their understanding of quality control and results-oriented practices.
