The Northern Province Affiliated University College (NPAUC) was established in 1991. It was upgraded to the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna in 1997, and later became the University of Vavuniya on August 1, 2021. Students from all parts of the country are admitted here.
At the University of Vavuniya, academic programs include research that is closely linked to industry needs. The university believes that education and research must be connected to societal demands to be truly effective. To foster innovative research benefiting society, the university established the University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell on October 1, 2021, following the University Grants Commission directive (Circular No. 10/2016).
The UBL encourages staff and students to convert research outcomes into useful products and services that benefit society. It aims to enhance the economic potential of the community through applied research and support local businesses by linking them to university research and innovations. The Business Clinic offers expert advice to businesses in need, particularly startups and those facing challenges due to rapid changes in social, economic, environmental, and political factors, which is in Park Road, University of Vavuniya, a key transit point connecting northern and other provinces, offering unique business opportunities and challenges.
The Business Clinic provide the necessary support and information for the local community, including, young graduates, school leavers, existing business owners, and individuals interested in starting a new business. It will facilities discussions on business risks, national issues, and potential solutions, helping the community strengthen its competencies to manage changes in the socio- economic, environmental and politico- legal spheres. The Clinic will focus on building entrepreneurial skills, offering guidance and assisting in business creation and development.
The Business Clinic will also engage in international collaboration and provide advocacy and consultancy services to support long- lasting, transformative change in the business community.
The Business Clinic draws from senior academics and experts affiliated with the University of Vavuniya. The UBL Cell assigns experts based on requirements with approval from the UBL Advisory Board.
