The Special Management Development Programme (SMDP) was a full-time, two-day programme conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, on 29th and 30th December 2025 from 9.00 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. for 33 participants comprising academic and executive staff of the University of Vavuniya. The programme aimed to enable participants to recognize key learning points, reflect on their application in the workplace, and relate them to their respective roles with practical relevance. The programme covered several important management areas, including Discovering Leadership Excellence and People Management/Talent Retention conducted by Senior Professor Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, Strategic Thinking, Marketing Applications, and Internal Service Management conducted by Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe and Dr. Samantha Rathnayake, and Management Skills focusing on Decision Making, Stakeholder Management, and Problem Solving conducted by Dr. Ravi Bamunusinghe, Mr. Champal De Costa, and Dr. Samantha Rathnayake. Overall, the programme provided valuable insights and practical knowledge that can be effectively applied to enhance leadership, managerial effectiveness, and institutional performance at the University of Vavuniya.
