Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal – 40th General Convocation 2026

The University of Jaffna invites eligible graduates to apply for the Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal at its 40th General Convocation in 2026. Students who completed their degree programmes in the 2021/2022 or 2022/2023 academic years, obtaining a first class or second class (upper division), and who will receive their Bachelor’s degree at the forthcoming annual convocation, can apply for this award.

Students who completed their degree programmes in the above academic years from the Faculty of Applied Science, the Faculty of Business Studies, or the Faculty of Technological Studies of the former Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna can also submit applications for this Gold Medal.

Applicants can obtain the Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal application form from any of the following sources:

  • Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs and Publication Branch, University of Jaffna
  • Deputy Registrar, Examinations and Student Services Branch, University of Vavuniya
  • The University of Jaffna official website

About the Gold Medal

The university awards this medal in two categories:

  • One Gold Medal for all-round best performance at university level
  • A Gold Medal for all-round best performance at each faculty level

How to Submit Your Application

Applicants must post their completed application, along with all supporting documents, under registered cover to the Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs and Publication Branch, University of Jaffna, so that it reaches the office on or before 12th January 2026. Candidates should mark “Application for Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Gold Medal” on the left-hand corner of the envelope.

Closing Date

The university must receive applications on or before 12th January 2026 (Monday).

Important Notes

  • Students who already submitted applications for the 39th General Convocation, held on 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd March 2025, do not need to apply again.
  • The Registrar will not consider late, illegible, or incomplete applications.
