A friendly cricket match was held today, 19th October 2025 at the university of Vavuniya Playground, between the Old Boys (alumni) and the Present Boys (current students) of the University of Vavuniya. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between past and present students through sportsmanship and friendly competition.
Batting first, the Old Boys scored 117 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
• Namila top-scored with 33 runs (25 balls),
• Lilan contributed 21 runs (19 balls), and
• Shanaka remained unbeaten with 14 runs (15 balls).
Among the bowlers,
• Lahiru took 2 wickets for 9 runs,
• Sahan claimed 1 wicket for 12 runs, and
• Rifky picked up 1 wicket for 14 runs.
In reply, the Present Boys successfully chased the target, reaching 118 runs for 7 wickets in 19.2 overs, winning the match by 3 wickets.
• Lahiru played a crucial inning of 42 runs (38 balls),
• Charith remained not out with 30 runs (30 balls), and
• Riwaky added 12 runs (11 balls).
For the Old Boys,
• Heshan took 2 wickets for 16 runs,
• Lilan claimed 2 wickets for 20 runs, and
• Namila picked up 2 wickets for 22 runs.
