The Staff Development Centre of the University of Vavuniya organised a workshop on “Scholarship & Fellowship Opportunities Overseas” for Academic, Academic Support, and Executive Staff on 05th August 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science. The session was conducted by Dr. Sabesan Sithamparanathan OBE, founder and president of PervasID and recipient of the Queen’s Award for his contributions to research and entrepreneurship. During the session, Dr. S. Sabesan highlighted key strategies for achieving success in one’s field and emphasised the importance of international exposure for academic staff to enhance research capabilities, promote institutional growth, and build global networks and collaborations. He outlined various opportunities available for scholarships and fellowships, including those for master’s and PhD programmes, as well as professional development schemes. The session also covered how to identify suitable supervisors, create strong CVs, and prepare compelling applications. Participants actively engaged in the discussion and clarified their doubts regarding global scholarship programmes, making the session highly informative and impactful.
