The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO) of the University of Vavuniya serves as the University’s central platform for transforming knowledge, research, innovation, and creativity into tangible social and economic value.
Established as the successor to the former University Business Linkage (UBL) Cell, the KTTO strengthens collaboration between the University, industry, government, entrepreneurs, investors, and the wider community. The Office facilitates the commercialization of research outputs, promotes innovation and entrepreneurship, supports intellectual property (IP) protection, and enables the transfer of university-developed technologies to industry and society.
The KTTO is committed to creating an innovation-driven ecosystem where research excellence contributes to sustainable economic development, regional competitiveness, and societal well-being. The Office supports academic staff, researchers, students, startups, and industrial partners by providing guidance throughout the innovation lifecycle – from idea generation and invention disclosure to patenting, prototype development, licensing, startup creation, and commercialization.
Through strategic partnerships and industry engagement, the KTTO aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry while positioning the University of Vavuniya as a leading contributor to Sri Lanka’s National Innovation System.
To be a nationally recognized and globally connected Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office that transforms university knowledge and innovations into sustainable economic, technological, and societal impact.
To facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge, research, and technology from the University of Vavuniya to industry and society by promoting innovation, protecting intellectual property, strengthening university–industry collaboration, supporting entrepreneurship, and enabling the commercialization of research for sustainable national development.
