Centre for International Affairs

About the Centre

The rate of internationalisation is growing rapidly all over the world, with unhindered communication channels and inexpensive travel. International relationships in higher education are important. In fact, they lead to innovations in knowledge, the free exchange of ideas, and enduring bonds between institutions and industries. As a result, universities across the world are seeking to make the most of the possibilities. They do this by forming global partnerships and fostering relationships with other institutions.

The proposed International Division of the University of Vavuniya will engage its activities in three major aspects: Research, Teaching, and Students’ activities. First, in terms of research, the division will expect to develop collaborative research programs. It will also develop global student group projects with foreign universities. Second, about teaching, the International Division will prepare the students for careers in a global economy. It will do this through the international collaborative training programmes, workshops and student exchange programmes. Third, from the student’s perspective, the proposed Division will expose the student’s talents. It will also promote their ideas with other universities and industries. In addition, the division will be expected to facilitate international students’ activities at the University of Vavuniya. In future, the proposed International Division will facilitate collaborative degrees such as joint and split undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
