The University of Vavuniya announces a Software Developer Vacancy (On Assignment Basis) for University Information System Development, and invites applications from suitably qualified Sri Lankan citizens.

Background to the Software Developer Vacancy

The University of Vavuniya is developing a comprehensive University Information System (UIS) to streamline and optimize its administrative and academic processes. This system will consist of various modules, including Admission, Attendance/Leave, Exam, Finance, Inventory, and Procurement Management. Each module is critical for the efficient operation of the University. Accordingly, the developer must build it using cutting-edge technologies under the guidance of the University Information System Advisory Team and External Experts.

Objectives

  • Build a robust UIS to manage diverse administrative and academic workflows.
  • Ensure scalability, security, and ease of use.
  • Deliver all modules within the specified timeline and meet performance-based milestones.

Skills and Experience Required for the Software Developer Vacancy

  • Recognized Degree in a Computing degree program.
  • Proven experience developing web-based applications.
  • Strong knowledge of database management, security, and user authentication mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Payment Terms

Total Cost: Rs. 1,800,000.00

How to Apply for the Software Developer Vacancy

Applicants should send applications to the Deputy Registrar, Establishments, University of Vavuniya, Pambaimadu, with photocopies of educational and professional qualifications (with a statement of Degrees and Skills & Experience services certificates). In addition, applicants should send the receipt of the registered post and a scanned copy of the application as a PDF file by email, on or before the closing date, to: recruitments@vau.ac.lk

Downloaded application forms should accompany the paid bank slip for a deposit of Rs. 100.00, credited to the Bank of Ceylon, Account No: 2364602, in favour of the Bursar, University of Vavuniya.

Applicants from the University System, Government Departments, Corporations, and Statutory Boards should channel their applications through the Head of the respective Institutions. However, they may send an advance copy in the first instance. That said, the university will not consider such applicants for interview if it does not receive the application channelled through the Head of the Department. Therefore, applicants should ensure their forms are complete and legible. The university will reject illegible, incomplete, and late applications without intimation. Ultimately, the university has the right to call short-listed applicants for an interview.
