The Ministry of Science and Technology and the University Business Linkage Cell of the University of Vavuniya will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11th November 2025 at 11:00 a.m. to establish collaboration in science, technology, and innovation aimed at advancing national development. This partnership particularly focuses on the establishment of an Incubation Centre for Sustainable Food Innovation in the Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
Through this initiative, both institutions aim to:
- Establish an Incubation Centre for Sustainable Food Innovation to support SMEs, foster innovation, and provide testing, certification, and commercialisation support.
- Promote training programmes, workshops, and knowledge-sharing platforms in sustainable food production.
- Provide access to food research, testing laboratories, and high-tech food processing facilities.
- Facilitate entrepreneurship, product development, testing, and certification to meet local and international food safety standards.
- Support regional development, food security, and export potential through innovation and technology transfer.
