The Staff Development Centre of the University of Vavuniya successfully launched and is currently conducting the Induction Program for Academic Staff (IPAS) – 2026, which commenced on 27th March 2026 at the Smart Lecture Hall, Faculty of Applied Science. The programme was held from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.The event began with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolising knowledge and new beginnings. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. G. R. M. Gamlath, Director of the Staff Development Centre. Subsequently, Prof. T. Mangaleswaran addressed the forum and emphasized that this initiative provides a valuable and credible opportunity for newly recruited academics to enhance their academic calibre by strengthening their professional competence and resilience within the contemporary academic environment. Then , the Vice-Chancellor also addressed the gathering, inspiring the newly recruited academic staff to strive for excellence and to contribute meaningfully to national development through teaching, learning, research, and community engagement. During the session, several key university officials, including Deans, Heads of Departments, Directors of various units, and the Bursar, addressed the participants. Their insightful contributions provided valuable guidance on academic responsibilities, institutional expectations, quality assurance practices, research opportunities, and career development pathways within the university. Finally, this inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Programme Associate, Ms. A. Prasheenaa, who expressed sincere appreciation to all participants and contributors for ensuring the success of the event. Following the inauguration, the programme proceeded with an academic session titled Module 7 – Teaching Practice: Effective Presentation Skills, conducted by Dr. N. Ravinthirakumaran, Senior Lecturer in Business Economics. This session provided further insights and practical knowledge to the participants.
