The “Battle of Brothers” rugby match, organized by the Physical Education Unit and Rugby Team of the University of Vavuniya on 24th May 2025 at the University of Vavuniya Playground, was a thrilling event that brought together current students and alumni in a spirited competition. Played with remarkable intensity, the match showcased impressive skill and teamwork from both sides, with the Present Boys securing a commanding 13-0 victory over the Old Boys. Despite the score, the Old Boys displayed resilience and experience, making the contest engaging and competitive. More than just a game, the event fostered camaraderie between past and present players, celebrated the university’s rugby legacy, and provided valuable exposure to younger athletes while strengthening alumni relations. The success of the match was a testament to the dedication of the participants, supporters, and organizers, who contributed to an event that not only upheld the university’s sporting traditions but also inspired future generations to embrace the sport.
