The official opening ceremony of this VALID Center will be held ceremonially on Friday, 23rd January 2026, from 9.00 a.m. onwards, at the Park Road premises of the University of Vavuniya. The event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and will be graced by Hon. Minister Sunil Handunneththi, Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, as the Chief Guest, and Hon. Minister Prof. Chrishantha Abeysena, Ministry of Science and Technology, as the Guest of Honour. Following the inauguration, the Center will be formally handed over to the University of Vavuniya community to provide services aimed at promoting and supporting the entrepreneurship sector to serve the nation. Building on this momentum, the University of Vavuniya, in collaboration with the Vidatha Resource Centre, is establishing this Centre at the Park Road premises of the University. The Incubation Centre, formally titled the Centre for Verification of Accuracy and Learning for Innovation and Development (VALID Centre), is intended to support entrepreneurs, MSMEs, researchers, and innovators by providing essential testing services, technical knowledge, training, and quality assurance support. The Centre plays a vital role in improving product quality, innovation capacity, and market readiness, especially in the Northern region of Sri Lanka.
