A friendly cricket tournament between the officials of Vavuniya University and Eastern University was successfully conducted on 03rd February 2026 at the Vavuniya University Sports Ground, fostering goodwill and camaraderie between the two institutions. The event featured two limited-overs matches, a 12-over match followed by a 10-over match, both played in a spirited and sportsman like atmosphere. The tournament proved to be a memorable occasion, with the Vavuniya University officials’ team securing victories in bothencounters.
In the first match, Vavuniya University posted a competitive total of 101 runs in 12 overs. Displaying disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, they bowled out the Eastern University team for 76 runs, sealing the match with a 26-run margin.
The second match, played over 10 overs, saw the Eastern University team score 58 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. In response, the Vavuniya University team delivered an outstanding batting performance, comfortably chasing the target without losing any wickets and registering a dominant win.
