The Support Centre for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) organized a discussion with VAROD, an organization dedicated to supporting and rehabilitating persons with disabilities, on 11 February 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The session was held at the IT Centre Boardroom.

The discussion was conducted in two segments. The first 45 minutes were led by Fr. Everest C.M.F., Director of VAROD, who presented an overview of the organization’s mission, key activities, and community engagements. This was followed by a 15-minute open discussion, which provided an opportunity for participants to share their views, raise questions, and exchange ideas.

The Vice Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, Senior Treasurers of the Students’ Clubs, staff members from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, members of the SCPD Management Committee, students with disabilities, and volunteer student club members participated in the discussion.

The primary objective of the session was to gain valuable insights into VAROD’s work and to explore potential opportunities for collaboration in future community enrichment initiatives. The discussion also focused on understanding VAROD’s engagement with the community and identifying ways to align the University of Vavuniya’s future initiatives to establish a meaningful and sustainable partnership.

The Support Centre for Persons with Disabilities will facilitate and coordinate this collaborative effort moving forward.
