The 3rd Jaffna International Chess Championship is scheduled to be held from 3rd to 7th December 2025 at Chelva Palace, Kokuvil, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. This prestigious event will bring together chess players from across the country and beyond, offering a platform for competitive play, cultural exchange, and the promotion of chess in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.

In recognition of outstanding performance, Our University of Vavuniya chess team achieved remarkable success by securing the 1st Runner-up position in the Best Higher Education Sector category at the festival. This accomplishment reflects the team’s dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence, while also bringing pride to their institution and inspiring other universities to strengthen their chess programs.
